Meet Our Practitioner

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Moods and Mesas Mindcare is dedicated to providing comprehensive psychiatric and mental health services to individuals in New Mexico and Colorado. Our focus is on psychiatry, medication management, and neurofeedback to ensure the well-being of our patients. We are committed to offering personalized care and support to address a wide range of mental health concerns.

Amanda is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who graduated with her MSN from Colorado State University-Pueblo.  Nursing experience includes emergency nursing, quality management, nurse educator and hospital inpatient med/surg.

As a native Northern New Mexican, she is passionate about helping people feel heard, supported, and empowered—especially in rural communities where access to care is limited.

At Moods and Mesas, we work with folks of all ages to provide thoughtful medication support, honest conversations with a side of real-life understanding. Life is messy and sometimes the best conversations happen in stretchy pants!

Amanda enjoys crocheting badly, dreaming up travel plans, and managing two opinionated dachshunds with big feelings.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a non-medication brain-training option that may support attention, emotional regulation, stress response, sleep, and peak performance. We offer guidance on whether neurofeedback may be an appropriate adjunct to a broader treatment plan and offer remote neurofeedback options.

Depression

Our approach to depression centers on thoughtful medication selection, symptom monitoring, and functional recovery. We also explore adjunctive supports such as sleep optimization, supplements, and evidence-informed integrative strategies including ketamine and TMS.

Bipolar Disorder

We specialize in the medication management of bipolar spectrum disorders, emphasizing mood stabilization, safety, and relapse prevention. Care includes close monitoring, education, and individualized treatment planning.

PTSD

We provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for trauma-related conditions, focusing on sleep, hyperarousal, mood symptoms, and nervous system regulation. Integrative and adjunctive treatment options may also be discussed.

Other Mental Health Disorders

We can help with OCD, adjustment disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia, and behavioral issues associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a form of EEG-based brain training that uses real-time feedback to help the brain self-regulate its activity and offers a highly personalized way to train the brain and improve performance.

Neurofeedback with Myndlift

Where?

You can do neurofeedback while cozying up on your couch with a  headband device while “playing” a game on your phone or tablet or listening to music. A typical course involves 10-20 or more 30-60 minute sessions, often 2-3 times per week.

Why?

Neurofeedback may help with a variety of mental health struggles, including anxiety, depression, ADHD symptoms, sleep disorders, addiction, and chronic pain. It may improve cognitive functioning, as well as promote relaxation, reduce stress, and boost overall wellbeing.

How?

Neurofeedback begins with brain mapping (qEEG) to identify patterns linked to symptoms such as inattention, anxiety, or mood dysregulation. Using this data, I create an individualized training protocol. During sessions, real-time brainwave activity is monitored while patients receive visual or auditory feedback that helps the brain learn more regulated patterns. The program is clinician-directed, with ongoing monitoring and adjustments integrated into overall psychiatric care.
